Howdy, y'all! You may have noticed that I've been away for a while, but the other two sockmonkeys were happy* to fill in for me. What happened was that just when I had planned to make an update, a certain female sibling of mine decided to occupy the computerial area for almost two days straight in order to do some homework. But enough about that, I found some rather funky stuff before this unfortunate incident.
( * - if, by "happy", you mean "forced to")
Bargle nawdle zouss!
I managed to self-introduce myself more thoroughly to the phenomenon known as Weird Al Yankovic. Being an Estonian and therefore not too familiar with American pop culture, I had only
seen/heard him on a few occasions. By now I have come to the conclusion that this guy just
rocks. Basically, I went to get meself a copy of Nirvana's classic, "Smells like teen
spirit", found Al's "Smells like Nirvana" among the results and decided to give it a go. And I
loved it. Then I searched for some more songs and found some 500 different ones up there.
Took me nearly the whole day downloading, listening, organising and sorting out lame spoofs that
were uploaded as Weird Al's work in order to get more people to download it and clog up the
bandwidth. But the best part was still ahead. "Smells like Nirvana" may have been amusing as a
song, but it was nothing compared to the music video. Even without having actually seen the
original, I found the spoofs hilarious. Especially the part where the old man offers his
burger-sandwich thingy to some guy.
...we're just technologically
And the bargle nawdle zouss part. Made for a jolly in-joke at Gunbound
the next few days. The rest of the videos weren't that good, except for one, which I actually rate even higher than the
Nirvana one. And that is "Amish Paradise" (spoof of Coolio's "Gangsta' Paradise" for those of
you who don't know). I'm not going to bother with commenting this, you just have to see the
video. The song will also do when it's all you can get. And if you can't even get the song or
just want to get a glimpse, I'll give you the
. And while we're at it, here's the lyrics for "Smells like Nirvana"
too. Merry Christmas.
Oh, and he does Polka. Definitely perfect for an inhabitant of the so-called Polkatown. Go Al!
